Job summary

St Rita’s College is seeking an inspiring Head of Faculty – The Arts to lead a dynamic Arts faculty across Music, Drama, Visual Art, and Film, Television and New Media, starting 18 January 2027.

You will drive curriculum design, assessment, and innovative teaching while remaining connected to the classroom, shaping students’ learning and creative growth.

Qualifications

• Strong track record as an Arts educator, capable of teaching at least one secondary Arts discipline.
• Leadership experience or capability to lead a high-performing faculty team.
• Deep understanding of contemporary Arts curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, including QCAA requirements.

We are seeking an inspiring and creative educational leader to join our Middle Leadership team as Head of Faculty – The Arts, commencing 18 January 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Arts educator, or an emerging leader ready to take the next step, to lead a diverse and talented faculty spanning Music, Drama, Visual Art, and Film, Television and New Media.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Dean of Teaching and Learning, you will inspire and develop a high-performing team, champion contemporary Arts education and create the conditions for teachers and students to thrive. You will lead curriculum design and improvement, strengthen teaching practice, and ensure students experience rigorous, engaging and innovative learning across the Arts.

Importantly, you will remain connected to the classroom, modelling the high-quality teaching and creative practice you expect across the faculty.

You will:

Lead and inspire a dynamic Arts faculty, building a culture of collaboration, creativity, professional growth and shared practice.

Champion outstanding Arts education, ensuring curriculum is contemporary, rigorous and responsive to the needs of our students.

Drive innovation, encouraging new ideas, interdisciplinary thinking and the thoughtful use of technology to enrich Arts learning.

Lead curriculum and assessment, ensuring strong alignment with Australian Curriculum and QCAA requirements and consistency across the faculty.

Inspire students beyond the classroom, supporting performances, exhibitions, co-curricular opportunities and partnerships that bring the Arts to life.

Teach within your area of expertise, maintaining a genuine connection with students and the classroom.

ABOUT YOU

You are an accomplished Arts educator who is passionate about what the Arts can do for young people and excited by the opportunity to lead others.

You will bring:

A strong track record as an Arts educator, with the ability to teach effectively within at least one secondary Arts discipline.

Leadership experience, or the demonstrated capability and ambition to lead a high-performing faculty team.

A deep understanding of contemporary Arts curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, including QCAA requirements.

A genuine commitment to developing people through coaching, collaboration, professional conversation and shared practice.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to build trust, inspire others and have the conversations that matter.

The organisational capability to lead curriculum, assessment, resources, performances, exhibitions and co-curricular programs effectively.

A commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment where every student can participate and flourish.
