Job description
Head of Faculty: Business Studies, Legal Studies and Commerce

Minarah College is seeking an experienced and dynamic educator to lead our Business Studies, Legal Studies and Commerce Faculty. The successful applicant will drive high-quality teaching and learning across Years 7–12, support staff development, and ensure excellence in curriculum delivery aligned with NESA requirements and the College’s vision of inclusivity and academic success.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, implementation and review of high-quality teaching and learning programs across Business Studies, Legal Studies and Commerce.

Use student data to guide targeted interventions and support a positive, aspirational learning culture.

Ensure full compliance with NESA requirements, including scope and sequences, teaching programs, assessments and faculty documentation.

Strengthen HSC preparation by monitoring student progress and supporting teacher content expertise.

Coach and mentor staff, coordinate professional learning and support classroom management, differentiation and inclusive practices.

Oversee faculty administration, including budgets, resources, risk management, assessment processes and documentation.

Coordinate faculty meetings, events, excursions, competitions and enrichment opportunities.

Maintain consistent assessment practices, moderation, reporting and communication with families.

Collaborate with the executive, coordinators and wellbeing staff to support whole-school priorities.

Build strong relationships with students, parents and external partners.

Promote subject pathways, career readiness and real-world learning opportunities.

NESA accreditation as a proficient teacher or higher, with relevant tertiary qualifications in Business Studies, Legal Studies, Commerce or a related field.

Strong teaching expertise across Stages 4–6, with a sound understanding of NESA curriculum requirements, assessment principles and HSC expectations.

Proven ability to use data to inform practice and lift student outcomes.

Demonstrated leadership capacity, including experience leading teams, driving improvement and supporting high-quality teaching through mentoring and coaching.

Ability to manage change and implement initiatives.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build constructive relationships with staff, students and families.

Commitment to inclusive practice that supports diverse learners.

Alignment with Minarah College’s values of inclusivity, academic excellence and holistic student development, and a capacity to model professional ethics, integrity and respect within a faith-inspired environment.

Prior experience in a leadership role such as coordinator or acting head of faculty.

Experience with HSC marking, standard setting or assessment writing.

Familiarity with data analysis tools and contemporary educational technologies.

Employment Conditions:

Teachers at Minarah College are employed under the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.
