Job summary

Southern Star Research in Australia seeks an experienced Head of Client Solutions to lead pre-award strategy and proposals, driving win rates and ensuring high-quality responses from first contact to work commencement.

Reporting to the CEO, you will oversee strategy and bid teams, design performance metrics, and collaborate with BD, Operations, Finance and Marketing to deliver client-focused, data-driven bids in a hybrid/remote work environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, health sciences, business, commerce, or related discipline.
Formal training or capability in process improvement, change management, digital transformation or AI-enabled workflow design desirable.
Advanced degree (MSc, MPH or MBA) desirable.
Significant experience in proposals, pre-award strategy, commercial operations, business development or bid leadership in CRO/biotech/pharma sector.
Proven success leading teams and driving transformation including process improvement and technology implementation.
Strong commercial and client-facing capability with experience in pricing and prioritising opportunities.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across functions and geographies.

Responsibilities

Oversee two Directors of Strategy and the Head of Proposals.
Design and track performance metrics for responsiveness, win rate and quality of bids.
Lead cross-functional collaboration with BD, Operations, Finance and Marketing to deliver high-quality proposals.
Identify solutions to meet client and project needs and improve efficiency through technology adoption.
