Job summary

Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen is seeking a Head Cook to lead a busy kitchen, ensure quality and safety, and support recruitment and training across the team.

You will assist the Restaurant Manager with P&L, COGS, and labor while upholding our food safety and WH&S standards in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen/cooking role in a busy hospitality environment.
• Experience leading and developing a team.
• Certificate in commercial cookery or equivalent.
• Good understanding of food safety concerns.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure kitchen quality standards are consistently met.
• Support recruitment, training and development of kitchen crew.
• Assist Restaurant Manager with P&L results including COGS, Labor and expenses.
• Adhere to food safety and WH&S policies and procedures.

Job Description

As the Head Cook, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all kitchen quality standards are always complied with. You will be supporting recruitment, training, and development of all kitchen crew, supporting the Restaurant Manager with P&L results which includes, COGS, Labor, Operating Expenses and ensuring all food safety and WH&S policies and procedures are adhered to.

We appreciate experience comes in many shapes and sizes, what we mean specifically is:

• Experience in a kitchen / cooking role within a busy hospitality environment
• Experience leading and developing a team
• Certificate in commercial cookery or equivalent experience
• Good understanding of food safety concerns
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
