About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen operations of a high‑quality Indian restaurant in Windsor, NSW. This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to a chef who is passionate about authentic Indian cuisine, operational excellence, and building a strong kitchen team in a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consistent, high‑quality Indian cuisine with standardised recipes, portion control, and presentation
- Lead preparation and service across all sections including curries, tandoor, breads, and specials
- Adapt dishes to customer feedback and dietary requirements while maintaining brand standards
- Manage daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth and timely service during prep and peak periods
- Coordinate workflow across kitchen sections and with front‑of‑house
- Maintain quality and accuracy under high‑volume service conditions
- Recruit, train, and supervise cooks and kitchen hands
- Allocate sections, set expectations, and coach staff on performance and consistency
- Build a disciplined, respectful, and high‑performing kitchen culture
- Ensure full compliance with NSW food safety, allergen, and WHS requirements
- Maintain clean, organised kitchens with correct storage, labelling, and temperature control
- Complete and maintain required food safety records and logs
- Control food costs through menu costing, portion control, and waste reduction
- Manage ordering, inventory levels, supplier relationships, and stocktakes
- Work with ownership to improve kitchen efficiency, profitability, and scalability
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in an Indian restaurant
- Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, spices, cooking techniques, and regional dishes
- Experience working in high‑volume, fast‑paced kitchen environments
- Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills
- Excellent understanding of Australian food safety and kitchen compliance
- Ability to manage food costs, margins, and kitchen profitability
Desirable (Not Mandatory)
- Experience working with tandoor ovens
- Menu development experience within Australia
- Experience opening a new restaurant or relaunching a venue
- Interest in profit‑sharing or partnership opportunities
