Job summary

ALH Hotels is seeking a Head Chef to lead the Blue Cattle Dog Hotel kitchen, delivering pub classics with a modern touch and strong hospitality. You will own the kitchen, drive quality, and mentor a growing team in a busy venue.

The role is hands-on, requires trade cooking qualifications and food safety certifications, and involves physical tasks: lifting and moving stock, kegs, and deliveries. Competitive salary + superannuation + bonus.

We’re searching for a Head Chef to lead the kitchen at the Blue Cattle Dog Hotel - the beating heart of our local community and the place where pub classics meet plates locals can’t get enough of.

We’ve been St Clair’s loyal local for decades. What started out as a humble tin shed in the middle of nowhere has grown into the very heart of our community. We're a straightforward, down-to-earth pub with genuine hospitality.

Whether our guests are popping in straight from work, catching up with old mates, or bringing the whole pack down for a relaxed weekend lunch, we're here to make their everyday moments feel a little more enjoyable. They can pull up a chair, sit back, and enjoy.

Salary: From $85,000 + superannuation + bonus

A day in the life of a Head Chef:

• Command the kitchen like it’s your own, keeping it running smooth, safe, and profitable
• Be a key part of the leadership crew, working closely with the Publican and FOH team
• Share your passion, skills, and creativity to grow a high-performing kitchen team
• Keep the connection between the kitchen and front of house flowing with good vibes and great food every shift

Inherent requirements:

This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.
