Job summary

Chambers Civil Construction is seeking an experienced Truck & Dog Driver to join our transport team in Schofields, NSW. The role supports our civil construction operations with safe, on-time material and equipment deliveries across sites.

The ideal candidate holds HR/HC licences, 2+ years of articulated-truck experience in Australia, and a current police clearance. You will plan routes, log trips, and maintain safety standards while coordinating with dispatch and site teams.

• Minimum 2 years' experience driving articulated trucks and dog combos in Australia.
• Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Proficiency with maps, route planning and GPS navigation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and safely drive articulated truck and dog combinations on various routes throughout New South Wales.
• Transport construction materials, equipment and other cargo to designated project sites.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation.
• Adhere to traffic laws, road safety regulations and company safety policies.
• Communicate with dispatch, site supervisors and team members regarding schedules and issues.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly.
• Load and unload cargo and ensure loads are secured.
• Plan trips under Hours of Service regulations.

Chambers Civil Construction is seeking an experienced Truck & Dog Driver to join our transport team. This is a full-time position based in Schofields, NSW, providing essential logistics and transport services across our civil construction operations. As a Truck & Dog Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting materials and equipment to project sites, ensuring compliance with all road transport regulations and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

What you'll be doing

Operating and safely driving articulated truck and dog combinations on various routes throughout New South Wales

Transporting construction materials, equipment and other cargo to designated project sites

Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck and dog combination are in safe working condition

Maintaining accurate logbooks, travel records and delivery documentation

Adhering to all traffic laws, road safety regulations and company safety policies

Communicating effectively with dispatch, site supervisors and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered

Performing basic vehicle maintenance tasks and reporting mechanical issues promptly

Loading and unloading cargo, or ensuring loads are secured appropriately

Managing fatigue and planning trips in accordance with Hours of Service regulations

What we're looking for

Valid Heavy Rigid (HR) and Heavy Combination (HC) driver's licence or equivalent

Minimum 2 years' experience driving articulated trucks and dog combinations in Australia

Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one

Proficiency in reading maps, understanding route planning and using GPS navigation systems

Strong understanding of vehicle safety, load securing procedures and road transport compliance

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A solid safety record and commitment to safe driving practices

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks when required

Experience working in the civil construction or logistics industry is highly desirable
