Crowne Plaza Geelong is seeking a hands-on Handyperson to keep our hotel safe, functional, and well-presented for guests and staff. You will conduct routine maintenance, handle repairs, and support event spaces while maintaining accurate records.

The role requires experience in general maintenance, strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry, and the ability to work independently or with a team. Availability across Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon and public holidays is essential.

Qualificações

• Prior maintenance experience in hotel or hospitality is highly regarded.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional trade, maintenance or technical qualifications are advantageous.
• Proven experience in general maintenance, repair work and basic construction tasks.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry systems.
• Ability to safely use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Strong communication skills with guests, colleagues and contractors.

As a Handyperson, you will play a vital role in ensuring our hotel remains safe, functional, and impeccably presented for guests and colleagues alike. From carrying out preventative maintenance and repairs to responding to guest requests and supporting the upkeep of hotel facilities, you will help create an environment where every guest can enjoy a seamless and comfortable stay.

A little taste of your day-to-day

• Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, common areas, back-of-house facilities, and exterior spaces.
• Diagnose and resolve minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical issues promptly and effectively.
• Conduct inspections of the property to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Respond to guest requests for repairs or assistance in a timely and professional manner, ensuring guest satisfaction and comfort.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including completed tasks and materials used.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless operation and guest experience.
• Assist in setting up and tearing down event spaces as needed.
• Assist in managing and maintaining the inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing tasks, ensuring a safe environment for guests, staff, and yourself.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of equipment and facilities.
• Assist in coordinating and overseeing external contractors or vendors when needed.
• Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized workspace, promoting a positive work environment.

What we need from you

• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment, would be highly regarded.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional trade, maintenance or technical qualifications are advantageous.
• Proven experience in general maintenance, repair work and basic construction tasks.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry systems.
• Ability to safely and effectively use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests, colleagues and contractors.
• A detail-oriented approach and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, stand, bend and kneel for extended periods.
• A positive attitude, self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently and execute practical, timely decisions in the best interests of the hotel, guests and colleagues.
• Confidence in assessing maintenance issues, prioritising competing demands and taking appropriate action without needing to seek approval for every decision.
• Ability to recognise when an issue is beyond capabilities,when a safety or operational risk requires immediate action, and when an external contractor or specialist needs to be contacted.take responsibility for resolving an issue rather than simply reporting it and waiting for someone else to act.
• Must have availability across Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon & Public Holidays
