Job summary

Pullman East Melbourne is seeking a hands-on Handyperson to maintain guest rooms and public areas, identify and rectify defects, and coordinate with contractors. The role supports a premium hospitality product in a historic, recently renovated hotel environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 12 months in building maintenance, hotel experience, and basic computer skills. A trade qualification is preferred, with roster flexibility including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months experience in general building maintenance.
• Experience in hotel/hospitality settings preferred.
• Trade qualification preferred.
• Experience operating small hand tools and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Rotating roster including nights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Be actively involved in daily operational tasks, including repairs, troubleshooting, and assisting the engineering team.
• Oversee final stages of hotel construction from an operational perspective and ensure safety and brand standards.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for hotel equipment.
• Liaise with external contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, health and safety standards, and Accor brand standards.

You will work closely with all departments across the hotel and external contractors to ensure the property remains safe, functional, and presented to brand standards.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

• Be actively involved in daily operational tasks, including conducting repairs, troubleshooting issues, and providing hands‑on assistance to the engineering team as needed, ensuring efficient resolution of maintenance requests.
• Oversee the final stages of hotel construction from an operational perspective, conducting thorough inspections, testing all systems, and ensuring compliance with all safety and brand standards.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for all hotel equipment.
• Liaise with external contractors and vendors for specialised repairs, maintenance, and projects, ensuring work is completed to specifications, on time, and within budget.
• Ensure strict adherence to all local regulations, health and safety standards, environmental policies, and Accor brand standards.

Qualifications

About You

• Minimum 12 months demonstrated experience in general building maintenance.
• Previous experience working in hotel / resort / hospitality settings is preferred.
• Qualifications in a Trade is preferred.
• Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including small hand tools.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Basic computer skills.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster (including nights), weekends and public holidays.
