Job summary

Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships is offering a School-Based Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology Apprenticeship in the Toowoomba region. You will be hosted by RoadTek, gaining hands‑on experience and mentoring while completing TAFE Queensland studies.

This opportunity supports Year 10/11 students with a passion for mechanics, including safety training, on‑the‑job learning and potential long‑term career paths within civil construction.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Year 10 and progressing to Year 11 during 2026–2027.
• Passion for mechanics and genuine interest in the trades.
• Must be able to obtain a Construction White Card before commencement.
• Motivated, reliable and willing to learn with a positive attitude.
• Have a valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• Flexible to work day and night shifts if required.
• Must live within the Toowoomba region and be able to undertake TAFE studies.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and repair plant machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair braking and steering systems.
• Inspect, service and repair cooling, emissions and air‑conditioning systems.
• Assist with light fabrication work and general workshop duties.
• Maintain tools, materials and daily records of plant and labour.
