Job description

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Group Assistant Accountant to join our expanding Group Finance team. This newly created role reports directly to the Group Finance Manager to support the continued growth of our business and offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional to develop their career in the property and funds management sector.

As part of our dynamic finance function, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of group financial reporting, supporting operational efficiency, and contributing to the overall financial performance of the business.

Haben is a privately owned funds and property management business that specialises in unlocking value from retail shopping centres currently located across the East Coast of Australia. We are growing rapidly while maintaining our personal touch, and care deeply about our community of co-investors and partners, as well as the communities where our assets are located.

About the Role
  • Prepare monthly group bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Post end-of-month journals and balance sheet reconciliations for group entities
  • Process supplier invoices, prepare payments, and circulate payment summaries
  • Manage accounts payable for group and private entities
  • Post intercompany recharge journals and ensure monthly clearing of inter-entity loans
  • Manage employee corporate card program including approvals, cancellations, and spend limits
  • Prepare and submit monthly corporate card summary reports to CFO/COO
  • Review financial statements prepared by outsourced providers and liaise with auditors
  • Support finance systems and process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Foster strong stakeholder relationships and promote financial excellence
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and currently studying CPA or CA
  • 1–2 years’ experience in accounting roles
  • Audit or public practice experience preferred
  • Experience in property, funds management or related sectors desirable
  • Skilled in ERP systems and comfortable driving systems/process improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Confident communicator with strong presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
