Job summary

Nordex Oceania is seeking a Grid Engineer to lead technical execution of grid connection workstreams for utility-scale windfarms in Australia. The role covers the full project lifecycle, including modelling, documentation, and compliance for grid interconnection.

You will liaise with AEMO/NSPs, perform detailed power system studies, and support GPS negotiations, contributing to sustainable energy delivery and the company's regional projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
• 2 years of experience in grid engineering or power systems.
• Experience with grid connection processes in the NEM.
• Knowledge of the NER, GPS, and AEMO/NSPs connection processes.
• Knowledge of power system modelling tools (PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory).
• Knowledge of electrical dynamics of grids and electrical machines.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and compile technical documentation for Connection Application, Registration (R1), and Hold Point/Commissioning (R2).
• Perform technical power system studies (steady-state and dynamic) using PSSE/PSCAD/PowerFactory.
• Support GPS negotiations with AEMO and NSPs with data and analysis.
• Liaise with AEMO, NSPs, and consultants to address queries and approvals.
• Coordinate with external consultants to meet timelines and technical requirements.
• Troubleshoot project models with internal technical teams.
• Contribute to modelling standards, templates, and engineering procedures.
• Assist in feasibility assessments and development of connection strategies for early-stage projects.
