Job summary

BDO Australia is seeking a Graduate Accountant to join our Superannuation team. You will support SMSF clients with financial statements, compliance, and ATO dealings while developing through a 12-month learning program.

This role is ideal for final-year or recent graduates in Accounting/Business/Commerce aiming for CA/CPA study, with an immediate or January 2027 start and access to strong mentoring and a broad client base.

  • Final year student or recently completed degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce or related field.
  • Eligible for postgraduate study (CA/CPA, CFA).
  • Available to start immediately or in January 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements, annual returns, BAS, IAS, Annual GST Returns and other compliance documents for SMSF clients.
  • Compile information to support SMSF transactions.
  • Identify accounting and compliance issues, ensuring legislative requirements are met.
  • Extract and monitor clients' SMSF situations with the ATO.
  • Draft correspondence and communicate with and on behalf of clients.

About the Role
Join our Graduate Program as a Graduate Accountant within our Superannuation team, to start right away or in January 2027!

Our Superannuation team assist clients to navigate the complex and everchanging superannuation landscape. They ensure Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF) are compliant with all relevant laws and regulations, provide expert advice on investment strategies, help clients understand the tax implications of their superannuation, and ensure they are taking advantage of all available opportunities to maximise their retirement savings and meet their financial goals.

What you’ll do

As a Graduate Accountant at BDO, you can expect to:

  • Prepare financial statements, annual returns, BAS, IAS, Annual GST Returns and other compliance documents for SMSF clients
  • Compile information to support the transactions of the SMSF
  • Identify accounting and compliance issues, ensuring legislative requirements are met
  • Extract and monitor client’s situation regarding dealings with the ATO
  • Draft correspondence and communicate with and on behalf of clients.

To be eligible for our Graduate Program, you must be:

  • In your final year, or have recently completed an Accounting, Business, Commerce or other relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  • Eligible for postgraduate study (CA/CPA, CFA)
  • Available to start immediately or in January 2027.
