Job summary

Leidos Australia is seeking a Naval/Marine Engineer to contribute to the design, development and integration of naval platforms and systems. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, applying engineering fundamentals to practical challenges and learning within a collaborative environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Naval Architecture or related field, proficiency with AutoCAD, strong analytical and communication skills, and eligibility for NV1 security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD drawing and modelling with attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for engineering design and integration.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of naval and maritime platforms, systems and engineering solutions.
• Support the development of engineering analysis, calculations, modelling, technical drawings, documents and reviews under guidance of experienced engineers.
• Collaborate across naval architecture, mechanical, electrical, systems and other engineering disciplines to solve technical problems and develop practical design solutions.
• Build technical capability through exposure to complex maritime projects and the broader engineering lifecycle.

The Opportunity

This role is an opportunity to contribute to the Leidos Gibbs & Cox Australia team by delivering outcomes that matter.

In This Role, You Will

• Support the design and development of naval and maritime platforms, systems and engineering solutions
• Support the development of engineering analysis, calculations, modelling, technical drawings, documents and reviews under the guidance of experienced engineers
• Work collaboratively across naval architecture, mechanical, electrical, systems and other engineering disciplines to solve technical problems and develop practical design solutions
• Build your technical capability through exposure to complex maritime projects, customers and the broader engineering lifecycle

About You

We are looking for someone who brings judgement, curiosity and a collaborative approach to work that matters.

Essential For This Role

• A completed or near-completed Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
• A strong interest in naval, maritime or Defence engineering, with an interest in developing a career within the sector
• Proficiency in AutoCAD drawing and modelling, with a high quality standard and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to apply engineering fundamentals to practical design and integration challenges
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to learn, take initiative and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian citizen and hold, or be eligible to obtain, NV1 security clearance.
