Job summary

Meridian Lawyers in Sydney is seeking a graduate to join our Professional and Financial Risks team. You will work on insurance law and litigation matters, with a focus on public and product liability and professional indemnity, across strata, sports, leisure and construction sectors.

As a Graduate you will gain exposure to different areas of law, work on real matters from day one, receive mentorship from Principal Lawyers and seniors, and participate in firm-wide networking and development

Qualifications

• Completed an undergraduate or postgraduate law degree in Australia within the last 2 years.
• Completed or willing to complete PLT.
• Genuine interest in insurance and professional indemnity.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a strong sense of initiative and autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced lawyers on insurance litigation matters.
• Support drafting, legal research and client communication.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven Graduate to join our high-performing Professional and Financial Risks team in our Sydney office. We are seeking a motivated individual who has gained experience as a paralegal, law clerk or graduate and is interested in developing a career in insurance litigation.

This role will allow you to work alongside experienced practitioners on a broad range of insurance law and litigation matters, with a focus on public and product liability insurance and professional indemnity. You will work across different industry sectors, with a particular focus on the strata, sports, leisure and construction industries sectors.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Completed a recognised undergraduate or post‑graduate degree in law in Australia within the last 2 years, and have completed or be willing to complete your Practical Legal Training (PLT)
• A genuine interest in insurance and professional indemnity
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Capacity to problem solve and think laterally
• Firmly established time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively
• Ability to work collaboratively with a strong sense of initiative and autonomy
• A great work ethic and be keen to learn and develop your career
