Job summary

Ballina Shire Council on the Far North Coast of New South Wales seeks a governance professional to lead the Business and Aviation team. The role oversees and improves Council’s governance framework, ensuring legislative and statutory obligations are understood, monitored and met.

Reporting to the Manager Business and Aviation, the position provides specialist advice across governance, risk management, contracts, property, commercial transactions and legal services, and leads the Governance team

Qualifications

• - Understanding of legislation, standards and governance practices.
• - High-level oral and written communication, including conflict resolution.
• - Experience supervising staff and planning workloads.

• - Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information.
• - Advanced report writing and policy development.
• - Experience managing investigations ensuring procedural fairness.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and continually improve Council’s governance framework across governance, risk, contracts, property, and legal services.
• Provide trusted specialist advice on governance matters and support the Governance team.
• Lead, supervise and mentor the Governance team to deliver high-quality governance services.
