Job summary

A leading recruitment consultancy in Queensland seeks a Governance & Risk Coordinator to oversee governance and risk frameworks. You will work closely with senior executives to improve accountability and transparency across the organization. Candidates should possess experience in governance or risk management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. This full-time permanent position offers a salary of $100K-$109K plus benefits including annual leave, personal leave, and subsidised housing.

Governance & Risk Coordinator - Central West QLD
The Opportunity

Take ownership of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks across Council while driving improvements in accountability, transparency, and service delivery. This hands‑on leadership role will see you working closely with the CEO, senior executives, and the broader organisation to ensure governance systems, policy frameworks, risk registers, and internal audit processes are embedded and effective.

You’ll oversee key areas such as policy review, compliance, fraud prevention, records management, and regulatory reporting – ensuring legislative obligations are met and best practices are adopted across Council.

About You

You're a capable governance or risk professional with strong organisational skills and a commitment to ethical, high‑quality work. You're confident managing competing deadlines and comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

You will bring :
  • Experience in governance, compliance, or risk management in a complex organisation
  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation and local government frameworks
  • Ability to review and develop policies, coordinate audits, and manage risk registers
  • High‑level communication skills and the ability to influence change
  • Strong systems thinking, time management, and attention to detail
