Job description

Are you looking for an awesome place to work, where you can proudly be your authentic self, and be part of #oneteam?

We are looking for a passionate team player who aligns with our values and culture, takes pride in their unique contributions, and can challenge the status quo with disruptive thinking. If this sounds like you, come and join us!

The GM – Procurement will lead procurement and supplier strategy across Vocus, transforming the function into a strategic value driver.

Vocus has already doubled in size through the acquisition of TPG’s fixed line B2B business. From here, the company intends to continue to grow aggressively - both organically and inorganically - capitalising on strong demand for digital infrastructure driven by AI.

Vocus manages over $2B in annual spend, with approximately $750M-$1B directly influenceable through procurement leadership. The primary mandate is transformation.

This role will fundamentally transform the procurement capability - building a modern, strategic, and commercially driven function. A critical dimension of the role is cost optimisation at scale. You are expected to unlock substantial and sustainable value through procurement excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a step-change transformation of procurement capability, including building a modern operating model (category management, governance, sourcing excellence etc)
  • Embed best practice processes, tools, and automation and shift the function from reactive to strategic
  • Manage and lead a team of 10-12 high-performing procurement team members, creating a culture of pace and accountability, commercial ownership and challenge and innovation
  • Position procurement as a trusted commercial partner, engage early with the business to shape demand and influence decisions and build strong relationships across Executive and functional leadership
  • Drive significant value across the $2B+ spend base, capture the $750M-$1B influenceable opportunity and deliver material, recurring cost savings through third-party spend optimisation, commercial renegotiation, demand management and rationalisation and alternative sourcing strategies and operating models
  • Go beyond cost reduction to unlock supplier-led innovation, strategic partnerships and new commercial constructs
  • Support ongoing integration and any future acquisitions, reimagine category strategies for a scaled, future-state organisation and enable speed and agility alongside disciplined commercial governance
  • Establish a centralised strategic supplier management capability
  • Drive performance, value, and accountability across key enterprise-wide suppliers
  • Coordinate cross-functional supplier relationships where ownership is fragmented.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of transforming and building procurement functions
  • Experience in organisations with >$1B spend
  • Background in infrastructure, telco, or technology preferred
  • Demonstrated success in large-scale cost transformation, M&A and integration and strategic supplier ecosystem management
  • Ability to identify and unlock non-obvious value opportunities
  • Deep understanding of modern procurement practices, automation, and tools
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing capability
  • Ability to lead through complexity and organisational tension
  • Comfortable in a lean, fast-paced, private equity environment
  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and delivery oriented.
