Job summary

MatchaTalent is seeking a Head of Procurement for an ASX-listed mining group. The role commands end-to-end procurement governance across Australia and Papua New Guinea with regular travel to PNG and extended on-site assignments.

You will lead a high-performing team, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost optimisation while ensuring compliance with ethical sourcing standards. You will partner with Finance, Project Management and Site Operations to secure uninterrupted material availability

Qualifications

10+ years in procurement, supply chain or strategic sourcing roles.
3–5 years of senior procurement leadership experience in mining or heavy industry.
Experience building procurement governance, SOPs, and transformation initiatives.
Experience in multi-currency environments (AUD, PGK, USD).

Responsibilities

Develop and implement end-to-end procurement strategy across Australia and PNG.
Build, negotiate and manage supplier relationships across Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Establish procurement frameworks, sourcing initiatives, and governance.
Design and mentor the procurement organization across corporate and site operations.
Develop SOPs, delegated authority, and audit-ready procurement processes.
Lead resolution of complex procurement issues including customs delays and FX challenges.
Align procurement activities with project timelines, budgets and production needs.
Drive cost optimization through strategic sourcing and supplier performance.
Ensure compliance with governance, anti-bribery and modern slavery requirements.
