Job summary

Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide is recruiting full-time Service Geriatric Medicine Registrars and RMOs for the SALHN network, based at Flinders Medical Centre, until November 2029. You will provide clinical services of the highest standard to medicine patients under supervision.

The role involves clinic duties, coordination of follow-up, maintaining records, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent and eligible for Medical Board of Australia General registration.
• Excellent communication and teaching skills.
• Clinical medicine experience and ability to supervise junior staff.
• Commitment to continuing medical education and clinical audit.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinic services under supervision of the supervising consultant Physician.
• Deliver appropriate clinical care to patients.
• Coordinate follow-up care and maintain comprehensive medical records.
• Communicate effectively with other care providers to ensure continuity of patient care.
• Respond to complaints from patients and relatives.
• Participate in education of junior registrars and students.

Full-time Service Geriatric Medicine Registrar and RMO roles at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, until November 2029.

About the role:

This role will provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to medicine patients of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN). In terms of individual performance and by contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care. Duties for the role will include:

• Provide a high-quality clinics servicer under the direction of the supervising consultant Physician.
• Providing appropriate clinical care to patients.
• Coordinating the follow up care of patients
• Ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decisions
• Ensuring effective communication with other care providers to promote continuity of patient care
• Being responsive to complaints from patients and their relatives
• Participating in the education of junior registrars, junior staff and students

About you:

• Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General registration (Geriatric Medicine); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff.
• Good teaching skills.
• Clinical experience and competence in the practice of medicine.
• Ability to supervise more junior medical staff.
• Ability to participate in continuing medical education activities.
• Commitment to clinical audit.
