Job summary

Glencore's George Fisher Mine is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Technical Services team. You will provide critical underground geotechnical support, contribute to mine stability, and help deliver the mine plan safely and efficiently.

You will collaborate with experienced professionals, leverage Deswik/Leapfrog/RocScience, and develop in a world-class operation, with a strong focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related discipline.
• Underground mining geotechnical experience preferred.
• Knowledge of rock mass classification and ground support design.
• Strong analytical, communication and safety commitment.

Responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical input into underground development, infrastructure and stope design.
• Conduct routine underground inspections and monitor ground conditions.
• Design and review ground support systems.
• Analyse geotechnical and instrumentation data to identify and manage geotechnical risks.
• Support paste backfill QA/QC and compliance activities.
• Investigate ground control incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain geotechnical databases, models and monitoring systems.
• Work closely with Operations, Planning and Technical Services teams to optimise mine performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity and operational excellence.

Stellar Recruitment is proud to partner with Glencore to recruit a Geotechnical Engineer for the George Fisher Mine, one of Australia's largest and most technically advanced underground zinc, lead and silver mining operations.

Working within an experienced Technical Services team and reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you'll provide critical geotechnical support to underground operations, ensuring mine stability, reducing geotechnical risk and contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of the mine plan.

Key Responsibilities

About You:

• Experience with software such as Deswik, Leapfrog and/or Rocscience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
