Job summary

Bouygues Construction Australia is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support design and risk management across civil projects. You will assist in site investigations, develop earthworks and foundation solutions, and contribute to modelling and reporting under supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Science Geology.
• Progression toward Chartered status with Engineers Australia.
• Competency in geotechnical design software, soil/rock mechanics, or earthwork and laboratory testing methods.

Responsibilities

• Uphold project values and safety standards.
• Assist in site investigations, data collection, mapping and geotechnical testing.
• Perform daily observations for geotechnical risks during construction and report findings.
• Prepare basic calculations, drawings and technical reports under supervision.
• Conduct instrument and monitoring assessments of ground movements as construction progresses.
• Review and assess temporary and permanent works design drawings and reports.
• Contribute to geotechnical design models and stability analyses.

About The Role

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will report to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer and play a key role in managing geotechnical and civil engineering risks and developing and assist in creating design solutions for excavations, earth retaining structures, foundation systems and ground improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Uphold the T2D Project Values
• Assist in conducting site investigations, data collection, mapping and geotechnical testing
• Actively undertake daily observations for geotechnical risks, during the construction of Key Structures and report these risks if observed.
• Prepare basic calculations, drawings, and technical reports under supervision.
• Undertake instrument and monitoring assessments of ground movements with the progression of construction.
• Review and assess temporary and permanent works design drawings and reports of a specific structure.
• Report, promote and ensure compliance with project standards, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
• Participate in team meetings, knowledge-sharing, and professional development activities.
• From time to time, you may be required to perform other duties as reasonably directed and within your skills, competencies, and capabilities.
• Contribute to developing design geotechnical models, stability analyses, and material characterisations.

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Science Geology.
• Progression of professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered status with Engineers Australia).
• Competency in geotechnical design software, soil/rock mechanics, or earthwork, soil and rock laboratory testing methods and analysis.
