Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited is seeking a Geology Technician to join the Hemi Project at Pilbara on an 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth. The role focuses on core handling, data collection from diamond and RC drill programs, and field sampling under supervision, contributing to orebody understanding.

Key tasks include core marking, data entry, GPS survey work, and site rehabilitation support. Candidates with WA manual licence, basic MS Office skills and attention to detail are

Qualifications

• 6–12 months relevant experience as a Drillers Offsider.
• Current Manual WA Drivers Licence mandatory.
• Forklift ticket (desirable).
• Computer literacy with MS Office.
• Excellent numeracy and good communication skills.
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Process, sample and collect data from drill cores andsamples.
• Mark core orientation and metre-marking; store and retrieve drill core.
• Collect geological data: Recovery, RQD, SG, Magnetic Susceptibility.
• Photograph core trays; sawing of drill core and sampling as directed by geologist.
• Survey drillhole locations with GPS; assist with site preparation and rehabilitation.
• Data entry and pulp storage/retrieval; field geochemical sampling.

About our role:

Northern Star Resources has an exciting opportunity for a Geology Technician to work in our Hemi Project at Pilbara on 8 days on, 6 days off roster FIFO ex Perth with roster day being Thursday.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Process, sample and collect data from diamond drill core, including but not limited to:

• Collecting core trays from drill sites.
• Marking out drill core: metre and orientation mark-up.
• Collection of geological data (e.g., Recovery, RQD, Specific Gravity, Magnetic Susceptibility).
• Photographing of core trays.
• Sawing of drill core and collection of samples as directed by the supervising geologist.
• Drill core storage and retrieval.

Sample and collect data from Reverse Circulation, Blast Hole, Rotary Air Blast, Aircore and auger drillholes, including but not limited to:

• Surveying drillhole locations or grid lines using a GPS.
• Assisting with the preparation of drill sites.
• Sampling and data collection as directed by the supervising geologist.
• Pick up of drillhole collar coordinates using a differential DGPS.
• Assisting with the rehabilitation of drill sites

Also perform:

• Field geochemical sampling as directed.
• Data entry as required.
• Sample pulp storage and retrieval.

Required skills and experience:

• 6 months – 12 months relevant experience as a Drillers Offsider.
• Current Manual Western Australian Drivers Licence mandatory.
• Current approved and recognised forklift ticket (desirable).
• Computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft office products.
• Excellent numeracy skills.
• Good communication skills, written and verbal.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to plan daily activities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work unsupervised as required.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
• St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
• Mechanical knowledge and skills (desirable).
• 4WD operation and recovery skills (desirable).
