Job summary

The Northern Territory Government seeks a General Surgery Specialist Clinician for Darwin/ Palmerston. The role focuses on delivering specialist general surgical care to inpatients and outpatients at Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals.

You'll manage patient flow, perform ward rounds and after-hours care on a 24hr roster, and provide expert opinions to referrers while engaging in teaching, mentoring and continuing medical education to support high-performing teams.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) or equivalent.
• A passion for rural, regional and Aboriginal healthcare and improving Indigenous health.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient flow and conduct regular inpatient ward rounds and outpatient sessions.
• Participate in routine and emergency after-hours care on a 24hr roster.
• Provide specialist opinions to referring medical practitioners.
• Engage in continuous medical education including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, professional development, peer review, staff mentoring and training.
