Job summary

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • AHPRA Specialist registration is required.
  • Fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM preferred.
  • Experience in Aboriginal health or underserved populations.
  • Commitment to culturally safe, trauma-informed care.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history and examination.
  • Develop and implement care plans for chronic conditions.
  • Deliver care that respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural values.
  • Collaborate with nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers and allied staff.
  • Support outreach initiatives and health screening events.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, audits and investigations.
  • Maintain registration and CPD requirements.

Job Description

As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, Our ATSICHS General Practitioner is to provide high-quality, culturally safe, comprehensive primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families, with a focus on prevention, early intervention, and chronic disease management. The role supports the holistic health and wellbeing of the community in alignment with Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing.

Duties
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic investigations.
  • Develop and implement care plans for patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory illnesses.
  • Deliver care that respects and incorporates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural values and beliefs.
  • Work closely with nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers, allied health professionals, and administrative staff.
  • Support community outreach initiatives and health screening events (school health checks).
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, including audits, incident investigations etc.
  • Maintain professional registration and meet continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.
  • Adhere to organisational policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
