Drive business strategy - State leadership role

The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) is the peak body for the Australian electrical and communications contracting industry. The Western Australian branch supports members state-wide, providing expert Technical, WHS, Legal and Workplace Relations advice.

We’re seeking a General Manager to lead NECA’s operations, strategy, and stakeholder engagement in Western Australia. This is a high-impact leadership role that combines strategic direction, business development, and member engagement with industry representation at the highest levels.

About the Role

Reporting to the NECA WA Council (President) and working closely with NECA’s national leadership, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading WA operations and implementing strategic and business plans aligned with national goals.
  • Managing full P&L accountability to ensure financial growth and sustainability.
  • Driving membership acquisition, retention, and engagement initiatives.
  • Strengthening relationships with government, industry bodies, and key stakeholders.
  • Overseeing sponsorships, partnerships, and new commercial opportunities.
  • Leading and developing a small, high-performing local team.

You’re a dynamic, commercially minded leader who thrives in stakeholder-rich environments.

You bring
  • Proven senior leadership in an association, member-based, or industry organisation.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated P&L experience.
  • Excellent relationship-building and advocacy skills.
  • Sound knowledge of WA’s business and government landscape.
  • (Desirable) Familiarity with the electrical, construction, or trades sectors.
