About the role

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to join Advanced Steel Frames at our Hendon, SA facility. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to lead and oversee all operational, financial, and strategic aspects of our manufacturing facility. As General Manager, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring profitability, and managing a diverse team. This is a pivotal role that will significantly impact the company's performance and growth trajectory within the manufacturing and logistics sector.

Key responsibilities

Lead and manage all aspects of manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, and delivery to meet customer demands and timelines

Oversee financial performance, budgeting, cost control, and profitability targets for the facility

Recruit, develop, train, and motivate a high-performing team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality assurance requirements

Implement and maintain quality control systems and procedures to meet or exceed customer specifications

Manage inventory, procurement, and supply chain logistics to optimise efficiency and reduce waste

Liaise with senior management, customers, and external stakeholders to communicate operational status and address concerns

Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency

Oversee maintenance of equipment and facility infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and safety

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a General Manager or Operations Manager within manufacturing, preferably in steel fabrication or a similar heavy manufacturing environment

Strong background in production management, including scheduling, resource allocation, and delivery performance

Demonstrated financial acumen with experience in budget management, P&L responsibility, and cost control

Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage teams of varying sizes

Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, quality assurance systems, and compliance standards relevant to manufacturing

Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities with the ability to work under pressure

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels

Experience with inventory and supply chain management within a manufacturing context

Drive sales growth through effective sales leadership, marketing direction and product development

Relevant qualifications in management, engineering, or manufacturing disciplines would be advantageous
