Job summary

Insignia Financial is seeking a GCP Data Engineer/Modeller to work on enterprise data assets powering analytics, reporting and decision-making. You’ll join a state-of-the-art data platform on Google Cloud using BigQuery and contribute to a scalable data ecosystem.

You will map complex source data into enterprise models, design analytical structures, and build robust pipelines. Applicants must have authority to work in Australia and may undergo police and basic credit checks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, analytical data modelling, and transformation design.
• Strong knowledge of analytical data modelling concepts (facts, dimensions, grain, history).
• Experience with Data Vault modelling and enterprise modelling frameworks.
• Advanced SQL skills and BigQuery experience.
• Exposure to data orchestration tools such as Airflow or Composer.

Responsibilities

• Analyse complex source systems to map data into enterprise and analytical models.
• Design, develop, and refine analytical data structures for reporting and analytics.
• Create and maintain documentation for data lineage, mappings, and modelling decisions.
• Build and enhance data pipelines to ingest and transform data across platforms.
• Develop and maintain DAGs with clear dependencies and logic.
• Optimise pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Partner with stakeholders to validate data definitions and modelling assumptions.
• Support delivery of high-quality, trusted data assets for decision making.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse complex source systems to understand data structures, semantics, and data quality characteristics
• Map source system data into enterprise and analytical data models to ensure consistency and usability
• Design, develop, and refine analytical data structures that support reporting, analytics, and integration requirements
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data lineage, mappings, and modelling decisions
• Build and enhance data pipelines that ingest, transform, and integrate data across multiple platforms and consumption layers
• Develop and maintain workflow orchestration processes and DAGs with clear dependencies and transformation logic
• Optimise data pipelines for performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency
• Partner with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technology teams to validate data definitions and modelling assumptions
• Support the delivery of high-quality, trusted data assets that enable informed business decision-making

What You Will Bring

• 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, analytical data modelling, and transformation design
• Strong knowledge of analytical data modelling concepts, including facts, dimensions, grain, and historical data patterns
• Experience with Data Vault modelling and enterprise data modelling frameworks
• Proven ability to analyse complex source systems and translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
• Advanced SQL skills and experience implementing complex transformation logic, ideally within Google BigQuery environments
• Experience working with large and complex datasets in enterprise environments
• Exposure to data orchestration and workflow tools such as Airflow or Composer
• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience
