Job summary

Melbourne Racing Club is hiring a Gardener to join our Racing team at Mornington Racecourse. You will maintain lawns, beds and public spaces to keep the venue looking impressive for race days, events and everyday use.

You’ll perform planting, pruning, mulching, weeding, fertilising and irrigation checks, and use mowers and other equipment safely. The role requires fitness for outdoor work and flexibility for early starts and race days.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in gardening, landscaping, grounds maintenance or turf care.
• Certificate II or III in Horticulture, Parks & Gardens or similar field highly regarded.
• Experience at a large public venue, sporting ground or racecourse is a bonus.
• Confident using horticultural machinery and irrigation systems.
• A sharp eye for detail and pride in how your work looks.
• Fitness for active outdoor work in all kinds of weather.
• Reliable, proactive and flexible, including availability for early mornings and race days.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Keep gardens, lawns, hedges and landscaped spaces race-day ready.
• Planting, pruning, mulching, weeding, fertilising and irrigation checks.
• Bring key areas to life ahead of race days and events, then help bounce back afterward.
• Monitor turf health and address irrigation faults, hazards or maintenance issues.
• Use ride-on mowers, brush cutters, blowers and hand tools safely and confidently.
• Support seasonal planting and landscape projects across the racecourse.
