Job summary

Southern Cross Care Queensland is seeking a Gardener/Maintenance Officer to join our Caloundra Residential Aged Care Home on a permanent part-time basis. You will work with the Residential Manager to maintain the home and grounds, ensuring tidy spaces and safe operations for residents.

The role involves hands-on maintenance, garden care and coordinating with external contractors. A trade qualification is desirable and you will bring practical problem-solving and teamwork to our caring,

Qualifications

• Experience in general and commercial maintenance.
• Previous experience managing contractor relationships is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work from manuals and drawings.
• Good problem solving and a can-do attitude.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Regular communal areas checks to ensure tidy and well-maintained home.
• Maintain equipment inventory and follow preventative maintenance programs.
• Coordinate external contractors for servicing of equipment.
• Horticultural and ground development, maintenance and monitoring.
• Re-planting of garden beds and seasonal maintenance.
• Pruning of trees and shrubs; lawn mowing and weed control.
• Clear garden refuse and maintain paths, drains and fences.
• Undertake routine repairs and obtain quotes for works as needed.
