Job summary

Terranova Nursery in Sydney is seeking an experienced Gardener/Horticulturalist to join our small maintenance team. The role covers mowing, edging, hedging, pest and weed control, and soft landscaping including plant installation and drip irrigation.

Candidates with at least two years in horticulture, a valid White Card, a current driver’s licence, and comfortable with physical work are invited to apply. Full‑time and casual roles available with a friendly team and reliable weekly pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years practical horticulture experience.
• WHS safety awareness and White Card preferred.
• Current driver’s licence to operate automatic ute.

Responsibilities

• Mowing, edging, hedging, blowing, pest and weed control, and green waste removal.
• Soft landscaping including plant installation, soil and mulch replenishment, and drip irrigation installation.
• Liaise with onsite contacts and Building Managers as part of service delivery.

Terranova Nursery, previously operating as a wholesale nursery based in Hurstville Grove, has been operating for over 35 years providing horticultural maintenance and landscaping services to high end strata properties ranging in size from small boutique buildings to some of Sydney’s largest and most prestigious strata complexes.

About the Role:

Due to expansion, we require an experienced full time and casual Gardener/Horticulturalist to join our small friendly garden maintenance team.

The position is horticulture focused, daily activities include mowing, edging, hedging, blowing, pest and weed control and green waste removal.

Soft landscaping is a frequent activity - Installation of new plants, replenishment of soil and mulch, installation of drip irrigation.

We are seeking an experienced person or those who are currently studying horticulture. Applicants must have genuine interest, good attitude and willing to expand their horticultural career.

The majority of properties serviced are located in the inner city and southern part of Sydney.

Skills & Experience – Essential:

Current drivers licence (to drive automatic ute) – experienced, careful driver with good driving record

Proficient in use of power gardening equipment

Minimum 2 years practical experience

WHS White Card (or willing to obtain) with awareness of safety procedures at all times

A responsible and positive attitude with enthusiasm for the role

High level of physical fitness

Good work ethic – punctual, reliable and honest

Excellent time management with ability to work to a schedule

A friendly, outgoing manner with ability to communicate with onsite contacts and Building Managers

Certificate 3 Horticulture or similar

Good plant knowledge and identification

Familiar with operation and basic maintenance of irrigation systems or willing to learn

Experience in soft landscape installations

Previous strata maintenance experience or experience in large scale properties

You will have the ability to adapt to a high-paced environment at times, several buildings are often serviced in the same day
