Job summary

Light & Wonder is seeking a Core Illustrator in Sydney to create production-ready slot game artwork, including symbols, characters, backgrounds, and UI elements. You will translate briefs into polished visuals and maintain consistency with established art styles while collaborating with designers, animators, developers, and production teams throughout the project lifecycle.

With 2–5 years in gaming, you’ll deliver multiple design variations, organize assets for production, and communicate risks.

Qualifications

• A portfolio with examples and detailed breakdowns, showcasing practical work.
• Strong illustration and digital painting skills.
• Good understanding of composition, color theory, lighting, perspective, and visual storytelling.
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and other relevant digital art tools.
• Ability to create clean, polished, production-ready artwork.
• Strong understanding of asset creation workflows and game art pipelines.
• Good attention to detail and visual consistency.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of game production constraints, asset optimization, and implementation requirements.
• Ability to create visually engaging assets that support readability, player engagement, and game functionality.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

This role is responsible for creating high-quality illustrations for slot games, including symbols, characters, environments, feature assets, and UI elements. The ideal candidate should be capable of independently delivering production-ready artwork while maintaining visual consistency, quality standards, and project timelines. The Core Illustrator plays a key role in transforming game concepts into engaging visual experiences and works closely with designers, animators, developers, and senior artists throughout the development process.

Education / Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in gaming.
