Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland's Gambling Help Service is seeking a motivated Gambling Help Community Educator to deliver education and information to diverse communities in Cairns. You will empower clients and families, promote safer gambling practices, and strengthen wellbeing through engaging training across the region.

This role requires a Certificate Level IV in Community Services, experience in training, strong data focus, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Certificate Level IV in Community Services or equivalent required.
• Experience delivering training, education or community engagement programs.
• Demonstrated case management skills with focus on outcomes, data and practice improvement.
• Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel; Working with Children Check required.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver community education and awareness programs focused on safe gambling and harm minimisation.

Gambling Help Community Educator | Gambling Help Services | Cairns

Employment Term: Maximum Term to 31 December 2026 | Full-time (38 hours per week), with part-time (30.4 hours per week) considered for the right candidate

Remuneration: $46.70 p/hr + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in our UnitingCare team

The Gambling Help Service provides counselling and support to individuals, couples and families experiencing gambling-related harm.

As a Gambling Help Community Educator, you'll play a vital role working with clients and the community to provide education and information, focusing on empowerment and resilience outcomes for the client, family and community wellbeing. You'll work across communities to deliver engaging training and awareness programs that promote safer gambling practices and strengthen wellbeing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

In this varied and community-based role, you will:

• Design and deliver community education and awareness programs focused on safe gambling and harm minimisation.
• Facilitate engaging workshops, presentations and training sessions for a diverse audience.
• Build strong relationships with community organisations, services and referral networks.
• Promote early intervention and improve awareness of gambling-related harm
• Collect and maintain accurate program data, outcomes and case studies.
• Research emerging trends and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve community outcomes.

What you’ll bring

• You’ll be an engaging communicator who enjoys connecting with people and empowering communities through education.
• A Certificate Level IV in Community Services or equivalent qualification.
• Experience developing and delivering training, education or community engagement programs.
• Demonstrated case management skills with a focus on outcomes, data and practice improvement.
• Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
• The ability to work autonomously in a mobile, community-based environment.
• Sound analytical, organisational and time management skills.
• A current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel to meet community needs.
• A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
• ASIST training or willingness to complete the training.
