Job summary

Emmbr in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Functional Consultant to join the Applications team. You will stabilise and optimise D365 F&O after a finance transformation, including enhancements, integrations, and ongoing support in a high-volume environment.

You will collaborate with Finance, Technology and external partners to deliver project-based improvements and BAU activities, balancing hands-on configuration with stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on functional support, configuration and enhancements across D365 F&O.

• Apply understanding of project purchase orders, procurement workflows and finance processes.
• Review functional designs and vendor deliverables to ensure business fit.
• Support testing, UAT and implementation of enhancements.
• Drive backlog prioritisation and ownership from issue to resolution.
• Assist with invoice processing and automation improvements in a high-volume environment.
• Contribute to upcoming integration projects as legacy systems are replaced.

The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established Australian organisation with market-leading businesses across residential construction, home finance and property.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) Functional Consultant to join their Applications team, supporting a complex enterprise environment following a major finance systems transformation.

With D365 F&O now operational, the focus is on system stabilisation, process improvements, enhancements and integrations with other platforms.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Functional Consultant who combines strong finance and accounting knowledge with experience supporting project-based business environments.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Applications, you will work closely with Finance, Technology and external delivery partners to ensure D365 F&O continues to meet the evolving needs of the business.

This is not purely an implementation or BAU support role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys a combination of project delivery, functional configuration, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide hands-on functional support, incident resolution, configuration and ongoing enhancements across D365 F&O.
• Work closely with Finance stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify process improvements and drive system optimisation.
• Support complex integrations between D365 F&O and construction/project management systems.
• Apply your understanding of project purchase orders, procurement processes and associated finance workflows.
• Review functional designs, configurations and deliverables from external vendors, ensuring solutions meet business requirements.
• Support testing, UAT and implementation of system enhancements.
• Drive prioritisation and delivery of the enhancement backlog, taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
• Support invoice processing and automation improvements within a high-volume transactional environment.
• Contribute to upcoming integration projects as legacy systems are replaced with new commercial platforms.

About You

You will be an experienced, proactive D365 Functional Consultant who combines strong functional and financial knowledge with the willingness to get involved in hands-on activities.

To be successful, you will bring:

• Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O).
• A solid accounting or finance background, with a sound understanding of financial processes and workflows.
• Demonstrated experience supporting project-based financial processes, particularly project purchase orders, procurement and associated workflows.
• Hands-on experience in functional configuration, troubleshooting, enhancements and ongoing application support.
• Experience working across both project delivery and BAU environments.
• An understanding of complex system integrations and their impact on financial processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work closely with senior Finance stakeholders, technical teams and external vendors.
• A proactive approach, with the ability to take ownership, challenge existing processes and drive improvements.

Highly regarded:

• Experience with Xflow or similar invoice automation/OCR solutions.
• Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or other project-based industries.
• Exposure to large-scale ERP transformations or post-implementation stabilisation.
