The iconic Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges is currently seeking a Duty Manager to join our team! The Esplanade Hotel is an iconic hotel located in the heart of Fremantle. With 300 rooms, large conference facilities and four separate dining areas, the hotel is a bustling building with a lot going on!

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic, detail‑obsessed, experienced Duty Manager to join our team and report to the Front Office Manager. You will co‑ordinate and oversee the effective running of the Front Office and liaise with all departments in the hotel to assist in delivering a superior guest experience.

Key responsibilities and attributes
  • The cultivation of an environment where positive service culture is paramount.
  • To achieve a level of service quality that consistently meets and exceeds the expectations of guests and staff.
  • To be supportive and actively involved in service development.
  • Effectively communicating and logging feedback received.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and take effective action achieving resolution; proactively resolving guest requests and issues in a timely manner.
  • An effective system of quality control by utilising shift checklists, revising procedures and implementing standards.
Job function & requirements
  • Knowledge of OPERA Cloud PMS system is a pre‑requisite for this role.
  • Accurately complete reports, action commission, handovers and guest correspondence.
  • Represent the department at appropriate meetings, attend guest functions and represent the hotel when necessary at hotel events and familiarisation visits.
  • Adherence to financial and credit policies.
  • Ensure that average rate and occupancy is maximised.
  • Ensure that commissions are appropriate and correct.
  • Ensure that department expenditure is controlled within set targets.
  • Maintain and develop a guest recognition and VIP program.
  • Ensure all hotel policies and procedures are adhered to at all times, including standards of personal appearance, hygiene, uniform and name‑tag usage as outlined in the staff handbook.
  • Be the face of the hotel with immaculate presentation, personal style and advanced communication skills.
