Job summary

Stake, an Australian investing platform, is seeking a Front End Engineer to join our Technology team in Sydney. This hybrid role gives you ownership of front-end features from development through production to deliver reliable, scalable experiences for hundreds of thousands of customers.

You’ll collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering to build intuitive, accessible UIs using TypeScript, Ionic and Angular, contribute to architecture discussions and help raise engineering standards across

About the role

We are looking for a Front End Engineer to join our Technology team in Sydney.

Technology sits at the heart of everything we build at Stake. Our engineers are responsible for creating the products, services and infrastructure that power the investing experience for hundreds of thousands of customers. From trading and portfolio management to account operations and new product launches, engineering plays a critical role in shaping how customers interact with Stake every day.

As a Front End Engineer, you’ll contribute to the design, development and operation of systems that are reliable, scalable and built for long-term growth. You'll work closely with Product, Design and Engineering teammates to solve meaningful customer problems, deliver high-quality software and continuously improve the systems that underpin our platform.

This is a role with significant ownership and opportunity for growth. You'll help shape technical decisions, contribute to architectural discussions and take responsibility for the systems you build from development through to production. We work hybrid spending 3 days in our beautiful, dog-friendly Sydney office.

What success looks like

• Delivered high-quality, performant front-end features that materially improve the experience of customers and contribute to key business outcomes
• Built and maintained accessible, responsive UIs and front-end services that support Stake’s continued growth and evolving product offering
• Become a trusted owner of key front-end systems and design system components, confidently supporting them in production
• Contributed to front-end architectural decisions that improve performance, maintainability and developer experience across the platform
• Consistently delivered high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code while balancing UX polish with technical excellence
• Helped improve engineering standards through thoughtful code reviews, knowledge sharing and collaboration
• Built strong partnerships across Product, Design and Engineering to craft intuitive, polished customer experiences
• Contributed to a culture of continuous improvement, helping make Stake a stronger engineering organisation over time

• You have experience building and operating customer-facing front-end applications in modern engineering environments, such as Typescript, Ionic and Angular
• You care deeply about crafting intuitive, polished user experiences and understand that the best solutions are the ones that are easiest to operate, maintain and evolve
• You’re pragmatic and can make thoughtful trade-offs between speed, quality and long-term sustainability
• You take ownership of outcomes and enjoy getting into the details of performance, accessibility and maintainability
• You enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams, sharing knowledge and helping raise the standard of the team around you
• You’re curious, adaptable and excited to learn new technologies and approaches when they create better outcomes

Bonus if you’ve ever

• Worked with Angular, RxJS or modern component and design system tooling, such as Storybook or Figma
• Built or contributed to mobile apps using Ionic or similar cross-platform frameworks
• Applied accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG 2.0) and tools like Lighthouse to ship inclusive, high-performing UIs
• Contributed to backend services (e.g. Go) to help unblock end-to-end delivery
• Worked in fintech, investing, financial services or another highly regulated environment
