Job summary

Bunnings is seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Specialist for our Minto site. You will maintain, service and repair production equipment across saws, presses, conveyors and automated systems to keep production safe and efficient.

You will lead preventive maintenance, fault-diagnosis and improvements, while supporting broader Frame & Truss operations. Join a collaborative team focused on reliability and safe equipment use.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or electrical trade qualification or equivalent
• Hands-on industrial or production equipment maintenance experience
• Capability across mechanical systems; electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems preferred
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and manuals
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance and safe isolation procedures
• Ability to maintain accurate records in maintenance systems and MS Office
• Current driver’s licence
• Physical capacity to perform hands-on maintenance
• Experience with PLC-controlled or automated equipment, timber or Frame & Truss operations valued
• Electrical licence, forklift licence or EWP ticket useful but not essential

Responsibilities

• Plan and complete preventive maintenance, inspections and servicing
• Respond to breakdowns; diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and automation faults
• Prioritise repairs to safely return equipment to operation
• Identify ageing or worn components before failure
• Support installation, relocation, commissioning and set-up of machinery
• Recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency
• Work with manufacturers, technicians, contractors and suppliers
• Manage critical spare parts and maintenance consumables
• Keep clear maintenance records and servicing schedules
• Share equipment knowledge with operators for safe use
• Provide technical support to other Frame & Truss sites when required
• Maintain safe isolation and lockout procedures and identify hazards

About the role

Bring your maintenance expertise to a hands-on role where your decisions will directly influence safety, production and equipment reliability across our Frame & Truss operation.

As our Manufacturing Equipment Specialist, you’ll take ownership of maintaining, servicing and repairing the production equipment at our Minto manufacturing site. Working with machinery including saws, presses, conveyors, material-handling systems and automated equipment, you’ll help keep production running safely and efficiently.

You’ll be part of a practical, collaborative site team where your technical knowledge will be valued. You’ll also have opportunities to broaden your expertise by supporting equipment troubleshooting across our wider Frame & Truss manufacturing network.

What’s involved

This is a varied role that combines planned maintenance, fault-finding and continuous improvement. You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Plan and complete preventive maintenance, equipment inspections and scheduled servicing
• Respond to breakdowns and diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and automation-related faults
• Prioritise repairs to safely return critical equipment to operation
• Identify ageing or worn components before they lead to equipment failure
• Support the installation, relocation, commissioning and set-up of machinery
• Recommend practical improvements that enhance reliability, efficiency and equipment life
• Work with equipment manufacturers, technicians, contractors and parts suppliers when specialist support is needed
• Manage critical spare parts and maintenance consumables

• Share equipment knowledge with operators and support safe, correct machinery use
• Provide technical support to other Frame & Truss sites when required

Safety will be central to everything you do. You’ll apply safe isolation and lockout procedures, identify hazards and help create practical solutions that protect everyone working around the equipment.

About You

You enjoy solving real-world technical problems and take pride in getting equipment operating safely and reliably. You can work independently, make sound decisions under production pressure and adjust your priorities when an unexpected breakdown occurs.

You’ll join a close-knit team that works across production, operations, safety, procurement and technology. Clear communication, trust and a willingness to share knowledge will help you build strong working relationships with colleagues, suppliers and service technicians.

You’re also interested in improving how maintenance is delivered, not simply fixing what has already gone wrong.

What you’ll need

• A mechanical or electrical trade qualification, or an equivalent recognised qualification
• Hands-on industrial or production equipment maintenance experience
• Practical capability across mechanical systems and ideally electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• The ability to read technical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and safe isolation procedures
• Confidence maintaining accurate records through a maintenance system and Microsoft Office
• A current driver’s licence
• The physical capacity to undertake hands-on maintenance work

Experience with PLC-controlled or automated equipment, manufacturing machinery, timber or Frame & Truss operations will be valued. An electrical licence, forklift licence or EWP ticket would also be useful, but is not essential.
