Job summary

STEPS is a not-for-profit organisation delivering the SEE Program from our Gympie site. As a Foundation Skills Trainer, you’ll create engaging learning experiences to help participants build language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills.

You’ll deliver face-to-face training, adapt resources, assess progress and support diverse learners to overcome barriers and unlock opportunities. This fixed-term full-time role runs until 30 June 2028, 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at STEPS Gympie.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122/TAE40116/TAE40110 or equivalent) is required.
• TAESS00009 or TAESS00026 Foundation Skills sets, or willingness to obtain.
• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
• Ongoing right to work in Australia.
• Experience teaching adult literacy or numeracy is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging foundation skills training to adult learners.
• Facilitate face-to-face learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.
• Adapt training approaches to meet varying learner needs.
• Deliver LLND training aligned with RTO requirements and relevant standards.
• Assess, monitor, and record participant progress and outcomes.

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program is a government-funded initiative that helps people aged 15+ develop the language, literacy, numeracy, and digital skills needed to participate confidently in further education, training, and employment.

As a Foundation Skills Trainer, you'll create engaging learning experiences that help participants build skills, confidence, and independence. Working from our Gympie site, you'll support individuals from diverse backgrounds to overcome barriers, achieve their goals, and unlock new opportunities.
