Job description

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

As a Forward Planner, you will play a key role in the planning and coordination of maintenance activities that directly support the operational readiness of Australia's submarine fleet. Working within a collaborative and high-performing team, you will develop and manage maintenance work packages, maintain planning data integrity across multiple systems, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex maintenance programs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional who enjoys working with large data sets, coordinating competing priorities, improving processes, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. You will join a team where accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement are highly valued, and where your work will contribute to a nationally significant capability.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain maintenance work packages that support the successful delivery of sustainment and maintenance activities.
  • Analyse and validate planning and maintenance data, ensuring accuracy and consistency across systems, reports, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project, engineering, operations, and support teams to align maintenance activities, priorities, and planning outcomes.
  • Monitor planning milestones and deliverables, proactively identifying risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the integration of maintenance requirements, upgrades, and emerging business priorities into planning activities.
  • Maintain planning templates, documentation, and reporting tools that support efficient and effective planning processes.
  • Investigate and resolve planning, data, and system-related issues to ensure quality outcomes and minimise rework.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning efficiency, data integrity, and process compliance.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
About you

  • Experience in planning, maintenance planning, scheduling, work package management, maintenance coordination, or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong systems capability, with experience using ERP, asset management, maintenance management, or planning systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Trade certificate and/or tertiary qualification in engineering/business.
  • Demonstrated competence and experience dealing with work pack processes within a project or planning environment.
