Job summary

ASIC is seeking a Digital Forensic Analyst to perform preservation, triage and analysis across devices and large data sets. You will advise investigation teams, assess new tech and maintain evidentiary standards using leading forensic tools and methodologies.

Collaboration with stakeholders and mentoring junior staff are key components of the role. The role fits within the Evidence Services and Digital Forensic teams, offering a balanced hybrid work model and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, data or forensic analysis.
• Experience in a legal or consulting practice, forensic services provider or law enforcement with a technology focus.
• Expertise in computer, mobile and network forensics, OSINT methodologies.
• Experience using digital forensic and eDiscovery tools such as Nuix, X-Ways, Magnet AXIOM, Cellebrite, XRY/XAMN or Forensic Explorer.
• Certifications such as CFCE, CFE or GCFE are highly desirable.

The team

Evidence Analysis, within the Evidence Services team, is responsible for the processing, analysis and management of evidence collected by ASIC. The team provides a consulting service to analyse and manage evidence using various databases and litigation tools to assist enforcement and stakeholder teams to locate and present the evidence to court or other decision-making bodies.

The Digital Forensic (DF) team sits within the wider Evidence Analysis team providing a range of traditional Digital Forensics services related to identifying, acquiring, processing, analysing, and reporting on electronic evidence, as well as supporting internet related investigations and eDiscovery using leading-edge tools and specialised hardware.

The role

As a Digital Forensic Analyst, You Will

• Perform forensic preservation, triage and analysis of computers, mobile devices and large datasets, including attending search warrants and preparing evidence for legal use.
• Provide technical advice, training and analytical support to investigation, surveillance and stakeholder teams on forensic procedures and evidence management.
• Assess emerging technologies and market trends to ensure forensic tools, practices and procedures continue to meet evidentiary requirements.
• Develop strong relationships across Evidence Services, stakeholder teams, industry groups and regulatory bodies to identify forensic requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Mentor team members and manage third-party forensic service providers, including procurement and service delivery.

About You

You will bring strong digital forensic capability across the acquisition, preservation, analysis and reporting of electronic evidence, using contemporary forensic and eDiscovery tools to produce defensible outcomes.

You will demonstrate sound judgement, attention to detail and clear communication, with the ability to collaborate, build trusted relationships, manage priorities and explain complex technical information.

You Will Also Demonstrate

• A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, data or forensic analysis, or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in a legal or consulting practice, forensic services provider or law enforcement environment, with a strong focus on technology and evidence.
• Demonstrated expertise in computer, mobile and network forensics, file systems, operating systems, data recovery, system artefacts, internet protocols and OSINT methodologies.
• Experience using digital forensic and eDiscovery tools such as Nuix, X-Ways, Magnet AXIOM, Cellebrite, XRY/XAMN or Forensic Explorer.
• Strong analytical, stakeholder management and service delivery skills; internationally recognised DFIR certifications such as CFCE, CFE or GCFE are highly desirable.
