Job summary

An established wholesaler of fresh produce in Canning Vale is seeking a Food, Quality & Safety Manager to lead quality assurance and food safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Food Science and at least 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with strong knowledge of HACCP and GMP standards. Quality Produce International (QPI) is a leading wholesaler and importer of premium fresh fruit and vegetables. Based in Canning Vale, QPI serves over 300 domestic customers, including major supermarket chains and independent grocers.

About the role

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, experienced individual to join our team in the role of Food, Quality & Safety Manager, to lead, drive and manage all aspects of quality assurance, food safety & WHS compliance.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintain quality assurance systems aligned with certification standards (HACCP, SQF, HARPS)
  • Oversee internal and third-party audits, ensuring site readiness and compliance
  • Investigate and resolve non-conformances and customer complaints
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Managing Approved Suppliers, maintaining currency of all documentation
  • Overseeing shelf-life testing, environmental swabbing and validation programs
  • Drive WHS initiatives, supporting implementation and compliance to SMETA standards
  • Develop and deliver training infood safety, HACCP, and GMP
  • Drive the established food safety culture program
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the QA/QC team to build capability and accountability
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams to drive quality improvements
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Food Science or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in quality assurance
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SQF (or equivalent GFSI standard), and regulatory compliance
  • Proven track record in managing audits (internal and external)
  • Understanding of SMETA social compliance standard (desirable)
  • Experience in implementation of WHS initiatives (desirable)
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
