Job summary

Health and Community Services Directorate (HCSD) in Canberra is seeking a Senior Director, Freedom of Information to lead a high-performing FOI team and shape information access for the ACT community.

Reporting to the Executive Branch Manager, you will oversee FOI applications, provide legal-advisory coordination, and brief senior executives and ministers on complex issues, while mentoring staff and building collaborative relationships across agencies.

Qualifications

• Leadership of a multidisciplinary FOI and information access team.
• Strategic leadership and briefing of executives/ministers.
• Experience with FOI processes and statutory Information Officer duties.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing team responsible for information access and FOI functions.
• Provide strategic leadership for FOI applications, information access requests, legal advice coordination and Open Access Information Scheme.
• Oversight of complex and sensitive FOI matters and statutory Information Officer duties.
• Provide authoritative advice on legislation, decisions and policy and liaise with government bodies and external stakeholders.
• Brief senior executives and ministers on complex issues.
• Coach, mentor and plan for succession; foster inclusive team culture.
• Direct supervision of staff.
