Job summary

Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking two experienced, theatre-trained Registered Nurses to advance into Floor Coordinators within Perioperative Services. This permanent full-time role offers immediate start and a pathway to leadership, clinical coordination and operational management in a fast-paced theatre environment.

You will support day-to-day theatre flow, ensure safe patient care, and optimise resource use while aligning with departmental objectives.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions).
• Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in a clinical area or specialty applicable to the unit.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Perioperative Nursing.
• Post graduate certificate qualification- desirable.
• A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring appropriate staff allocations and skill mix to reflect the changing workload and to meet patient needs.
• Coordinate all clinical activity to maximize efficiency and ensure staff meal breaks and reliefs are arranged in a timely manner.
• Act as a clinical expert within the area of work demonstrating specialist knowledge, skills, and expertise.
• Liaise and co-operate with the wards, other departments, and personnel in the hospital.
• Work collaboratively with other team leaders in the theatre department in the daily running and organisation of theatre activity and provide support in all clinical areas as necessary.
• Maintain and raise the clinical standard of care through audits and implement changes in best practice.
• Identify and communicate quality improvement ideas to senior staff to enhance patient care.

About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking two experienced, theatre-trained Registered Nurses to take the next step in their leadership journey as
Floor Coordinators within our Perioperative Services team. This
permanent full-time opportunity is available for an immediate start and offers the chance to further develop your leadership, clinical coordination, and operational management skills within a dynamic and fast-paced theatre environment. Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and wider perioperative team, the successful candidate will support the day-to-day coordination of Perioperative Services, ensuring efficient theatre flow, safe patient care, and effective utilisation of resources while contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives.

Salary range

Salary range: $56.08 - $60.05 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As the Floor Coordinator you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective service is provided to patients and Visiting Medical Officers within Perioperative Services on a day-to-day basis. You will provide clinical expertise, direct support and coaching to staff within the department, with a clear focus on the patient experience and quality of services.

About you

To be successful in this role you will meet the following in the following:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
• Ability to plan and facilitate management of workloads
