Job summary

Samaritans in Lake Macquarie, NSW is seeking caring home support workers to assist ageing participants living in the community. You will support independence, stay connected to communities and help participants live life on their own terms with confidence and warmth.

Role focuses on person-centred care, flexibility in hours, and a supportive team environment. Must have relevant certificates, a valid driver’s licence, and Senior First Aid. Prior home care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Individual Support or Certificate IV in Ageing Support.
• Proven ability to deliver person-centred care respecting dignity and worth.
• Understanding of safe work practices and manual handling where applicable.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate (ongoing requirement).
• Current driver’s licence with registered, comprehensively insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Be responsive to consumers and families’ routine and care plan delivery.
• Collaborate with consumers, families and Anglican Care staff with open communication.
• Deliver care in a professional, person-centred and age-appropriate manner.
• Follow care plans promoting wellness, enablement and timely, sensitive palliative care where appropriate.
• Relate warmly to consumers, maintain dignity, confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for consumers at Anglican Care community centres.
