Job summary

Fortescue is seeking a fixed plant Electrician for our Cloudbreak mine in WA. This permanent, full-time role involves delivering safe electrical and instrumentation maintenance within a FIFO roster from Perth.

You will work on PLC systems, high-voltage switching, and involve SAP-based maintenance processes to optimise plant capacity. The position requires WA A-class licence, HV cert, and instrumentation knowledge.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade qualification is mandatory.
• Current WA A-class electrical licence is required.
• High voltage switching certificate is essential.
• Certificate IV in instrumentation is desirable.
• Experience in continuous operating plant environments is required.
• PLC and control communication systems experience is necessary.
• Profibus installation/maintenance is desirable.
• Experience with VSD maintenance is required.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and follow safety/permitting systems.
• Experience with SAP and MS Office for maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and installation for electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Conduct operational checks and diagnose electrical performance issues.
• Troubleshoot faults and take corrective action.
• Decommissioning and disposal of equipment when needed.
• Provide on-the-job coaching to others.
• Monitor trends to improve inventory and reliability.
• Conduct statutory testing and inspections.
• Work within time, budget and safety standards.
• Design, configuration and calibration of equipment.

Our Opportunity

Work Location: Cloudbreak - Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

Roster: 7D/7N/14R – FIFO ex Perth

This permanent full time position is within our Process Plant at Cloudbreak. We are looking for an experienced fixed plant electrican who will provide safe, effective and timely electrical maintenance to our equipment and ancillaries to optimise plant operational capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing repairs, installations and any work required to set up, align or otherwise prepare for operation, all electronic and instrumentation equipment/systems


• Performing operational checks, monitoring performance and related maintenance to identify and diagnose instrumentation electronic and electrical performance problems


• Performing technical evaluations, fault finding and diagnosing problems and taking timeous corrective action


• Decommissioning and disposal of equipment as appropriate


• Performing on-the-job coaching as required


• Monitoring trends to make recommendations for inventory control


• Statutory testing and inspections


• Carrying out tasks within time, budget and standard


• Performing detail design, device programming, configuration and calibration on equipment

Qualifications and Experience

• Electrical trade qualification


• Current WA 'A' class electrical workers licence


• High voltage switching certificate


• Certificate IV in instrumentation (desired)


• Experience as an electrical tradesperson or Electrical / Instrumentation Technician in a continuous operating plant environment


• Proven experience in PLC systems and control communication systems


• Profibus installation and maintenance certification desirable


• Proven experience in the maintenance and trouble shooting of Variable Speed Drives


• Competent understanding of electrical schematics, isolation and permitting systems


• Experience in computer based maintenance systems - SAP/Microsoft Office suit
