Job summary

Swetha International invites qualified Mechanical Fitters to join a large rail and heavy-industry upgrade program in Sydney. This depot-based role offers stable, long-term work on rolling stock upgrades, mechanical renewals and safety equipment installations.

You will work from drawings and procedures, perform fit-offs and alignments, and support equipment change-outs in a hands-on, depot environment with structured scopes and ongoing opportunities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated mechanical fitting and installation experience required.
• Able to read and interpret drawings and technical procedures.
• Physically capable of depot-based work and handling tools.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical maintenance, upgrades and modification work.
• Removal and installation of mechanical components and assemblies.
• Fit-off, alignment and adjustment of equipment.

Mechanical Fitters Wanted - Depot Work | Immediate Starts | Sydney

Swetha International is recruiting qualified Mechanical Fitters to join a large rail and heavy-industry upgrade program supporting Sydney Trains operations.

This is not short shutdown work.

We're building a dedicated production team for a program involving rolling stock upgrades, mechanical system renewals, safety equipment installation, and large-asset modifications.

What you'll be doing

• Mechanical maintenance, upgrades and modification work


• Removal and installation of mechanical components and assemblies


• Fit-off, alignment and adjustment of equipment


• Supporting equipment change-outs and system upgrades


• Working from drawings, procedures and technical specifications


• Reassembly and reinstatement of panels, covers and fittings


• Working in depot environments including confined spaces


• Following established procedures, scopes and safety systems

This is hands-on mechanical work on large assets - not workshop-only or construction site hopping.

What we need from you

• Trade qualification in Mechanical (Certificate III Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent)


• Strong mechanical fitting and installation experience


• Ability to interpret drawings and follow technical procedures


• Comfortable with physical work and depot environments


• Full Australian working rights


• Own basic hand tools

Rail-ready or willing to become rail-ready

• RIW card (or willingness to obtain - CAT 3 medical + D&A required)


• National Police Check (within the past 6 months)

Highly regarded (not essential)

• Rolling stock or rail experience


• Heavy industry / mobile plant background


• Experience with large asset modification or upgrade programs
