Responsibilities

• Ensure work area is safe, clean and tidy before starting and maintain this during work.
• Follow all DGH Engineering's policies, procedures, and the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
• Identify hazards in the work area and implement suitable controls.
• Advise other workers of hazards they have not identified or controlled.
• Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn as intended by the manufacturer.
• Ask questions of the Leading Hand or Supervisor if unsure how to proceed.
• Ensure familiarity with or hold the correct licence/ticket for any equipment required to operate.
• Carry out work to the best of ability.
• Treat other workers and their belongings with respect.
• Report any incident, injury or near miss to the Leading Hand or Supervisor and complete an Incident Report promptly.

Job description

The Fitter Machinist operates and programs automated CNC lathes and milling machines, operates manual lathes and milling machines, reads and understands engineering drawings to produce parts, and performs removal, repair and installation of new and used parts and machinery. The role reports to the Workshop Supervisor and is based in Gladstone.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure work area is in a safe, clean and tidy state before commencing and maintain this during work
• Follow all DGH Engineering's Policies and Procedures and the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulations and any applicable site rules
• Identify hazards in work area and put suitable controls in place
• Advise other workers of hazards they have not identified or controlled
• Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn as intended by the manufacturer
• Ask questions of the Leading Hand or Supervisor if unsure how to proceed
• Ensure familiarity with or hold the correct licence/ticket for any equipment required to operate
• Carry out work to the best of ability
• Treat other workers and their belongings with respect
• Report immediately to the Leading Hand or Supervisor any incident, injury or near miss and complete an Incident Report as soon as possible
