Job summary

Downer is recruiting a Fire Systems Technician for Randwick Barracks in Sydney. This permanent on-site role focuses on corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, and timely response to fire system issues in defence facilities.

You'll bring a Certificate III in Fire Systems Testing and Inspection and FPAA/FPAS accreditation, with the ability to obtain Defence clearance. We value a strong work ethic and commitment to safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Fire Systems Testing and Inspection is required.
• FPAA or FPAS accreditation is required or highly desirable.
• Ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship mandatory).
• Post-trade experience in fire systems fault diagnosis and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Respond to corrective maintenance work orders within contract times.
• Conduct root cause analysis using manuals, standards and asset history.
• Perform rectification works and replacements of faulty components.
• Implement make safe or temporary repairs and escalate major replacements.
• Verify and test corrective maintenance ensuring standards and Defence policies.

What You'll Do

• Respond to corrective maintenance work orders and unplanned fire system faults within contract-specified response times
• Conduct root cause analysis and diagnosis using manuals, standards and asset history
• Perform rectification works including repairs or replacements of faulty fire system components
• Implement make safe or temporary repairs when required and escalate major component replacement
• Verify and test corrective maintenance works, ensuring compliance to standards and Defence policies

What You'll Bring

• Certificate III in Fire Systems Testing and Inspection

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship is mandatory).
• Post-trade experience in fire systems fault diagnosis, corrective maintenance and repair
• Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis, fault finding and compliance testing to restore fire systems to operational condition
• Experience responding to unplanned or reactive work orders within required response times
