Job summary

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is seeking a Research Scientist - Fire Risk Modelling in Burwood East, Victoria, on a fixed term, full-time basis. You will lead the development of CFA's capacity to identify and model fire risk, working with a small team of researchers and engaging with community and government partners.

You will develop and maintain models, tools and spatial analysis workflows, applying Python and SQL to quantify trends from historical data and inform emergency response

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in science, engineering, data science or computer science.
• Experience with Python and SQL; strong programming skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of fire risk modelling capacity for CFA.
• Develop and maintain models, tools, and systems to describe, predict, and communicate incident information.
