Fiserv in Australia’s North Sydney is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide extensive legal support across contracts, governance, IP, data privacy, and regulatory matters. You will lead negotiations, manage disputes, and ensure compliance with Australian law while supporting regional M&A activities.

The role requires a law degree and Australian practicing license, plus 6+ years in fintech/technology sectors, with strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.

Qualifications

• An internationally recognized law degree with an active license to practice law in Australia.
• 6+ years of experience in providing legal advisory in the technology, payment, banking, or fintech industry.
• 6+ years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and legal documents.
• 6+ years of experience in managing legal disputes and regulatory compliance.
• Proven success as a lead negotiator and ability to collaborate with stakeholders at different levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice to management on contracts and regulatory implications.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, company law, and applicable statutes.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement compliance programs.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents to safeguard the company.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage filings, audits, and notices.
• Develop and improve legal templates and precedents; enhance legal operations and processes.
• Advise on product design, distribution, lifecycle management and regulatory requirements.
• Establish internal policies to promote compliance and ethical conduct.
• Oversee disputes, litigation, and arbitration; coordinate with external counsel as needed.
• Conduct training sessions for employees on legal and compliance requirements.
• Develop monitoring frameworks for senior management on compliance status and legal risks.
• Assist with mergers and acquisitions activities in the region.
